 First National Bank Building

The First National Bank of Mount Hope opened August 15, 1917. Built of native sandstone, the First National Bank Building is probably the oldest remaining structure within the downtown business section of Mount Hope. The 8-day clock that stood in front of the building was wound by a key, and was decorated with many gargoyle-like icons bearing the face of a lion, each holding a large ring in their mouth. During the mid-1960's, the clock was sold to a Huntington resident, bringing an end to the clock's tenure within the City of Mount Hope.
