In 1910 the New River Company built a commodious club-house for the accommodation of its office employees.

In 1921 the New River Company converting the building into a hotel then known as The Mount Hope Hotel.

The hotel was later renamed The New River Hotel, photo circa 1927

On Thursday, February 19th, 1931 the formal opening of a fine "new" hotel, "The Mountainair" was celebrated by local citizens and travelers from far and wide.
